Dixons Croxteth Academy among England’s most-improved schools
Posted 21st March 2025
We're celebrating a big milestone in its ongoing journey of improvement as new data from the Department for Education (DfE), based on the 2024 GCSE results, shows our academy is now the third most-improved secondary school in England.
The DfE’s Progress 8 measure highlights the progress students made between when they finished primary school and their GCSE results. Our GCSE results for 2024 showed a Progress 8 measure of -0.94. This is a significant improvement over our previous score of -1.80 for the 2023 results.
This increase of +0.86 makes our academy one of the most improved secondary schools in the country last year.
We have made strong progress since we joined Dixons Academies Trust in 2022. With extensive support from Dixons Academies Trust, our academy has made significant improvements in our curriculum, teaching and learning, making the school day a more focused, purposeful and enriching learning experience for students.
Iain Duggan, Principal of Dixons Croxteth Academy said:
“We are so proud of just how far the academy has come since becoming part of our trust.
“Our students are making great progress thanks to the commitment, dedication and efforts of our colleagues, students and their families. We are determined to continue this upward trajectory and look forward to supporting this year’s students through their GCSEs.”
Luke Sparkes, school and college trust leader at Dixons Academies Trust said:
“At Dixons, we are driven by our commitment to providing the best education possible for all young people. Our mission is to challenge educational and social disadvantage in the North and the progress we have made already at Dixons Croxteth Academy shows what is possible. We are excited for the next chapter in this school’s development and to continue to support our children to get the results they deserve.”
